Online Chinese Instruction from Qooco
Qooco is a company that provides mobile Mandarin learning, with the goal of making learning Mandarin not only easy but fun.
The company blends together effective learning methods in the form of interactive speech recognition technology and live online instruction. This means that students have an expert in Mandarin to ask questions to and the online system for practice with spoken repetition and vocabulary review.
The company operates on the principle that learning Chinese should be fun, interactive, and flexible. They also sponsor various programs that provide state-of-the-art educational opportunities to students in need in locations such as Cambodia, the Philippines, China, and Indonesia. Qooco is also in partnership with the YMCA and AkarakA, a group that provides educational funding for underprivileged children.
The chief executive officer of Qooco is David Topolewski, who has had a long and varied career in business. He has worked for Smith Barney providing merger analysis and business proposals for various companies. After getting his master’s in business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, he then moved on to Houlihan Lokey, where he helped to develop advanced cash flow models for firm analysis and he also focused on mergers and solvency options. He was also chief financial officer for HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates, an interior design firm. He has even had experience in the video gaming industry – he was in charge of the start up of 7th Level, a video gaming firm. He oversaw the legal, financial, and general management aspects and also contributed to the company’s expansion and public opening on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
Today, Mr. Topolewski helps Qooco to provide innovative, blended education solutions to students wishing to learn Chinese.
